The need of a healthy diet

A healthy diet is very important and necessary for a healthy body and a healthy mind. Healthy diet is not only about restricting self towards food which is unhealthy but eating a balanced diet which comprises of all the necessary nutrients which also includes adequate amount of water.

What all a healthy diet must include the following

  • It must include adequate amount of calories to equal the daily requirements of the person. People usually eat less or eat more, as most of the people don’t eat in accordance to the requirement. Most of us don’t spend time thinking about the food we eat.
  • A minimum amount of fat also is necessary for the body mechanism to work properly. All types of fats are necessary including mono saturated, poly saturated and saturated fats are very necessary.
  • One must keep an account of the proportions of carbohydrates and fats that he/she consumes in a day. A proper ratio should be maintained between the two for a healthy diet.
  • Proteins are also equally important for the body. Proteins actually happen to be the substance that provides cellular replenishment.
  • Vitamins and minerals are also very important for the proper functioning of the body. Most of the foods we eat usually lack some important mineral and vitamin or the other. We need to supplement our food with other intakes to complement the lack of it.
  • We must always make a point that the food we eat is clean and free from bacteria, virus and human pathogens such as coli, tapeworm etc.
  • In addition to all these we must make a point to drink adequate amount of water. Water is very essential for the human body as it provides many minerals which are not present in the food we eat.
